Behind The Templates

How EII develops a code or guideline.

The same process, whether it's a public template like these or a bespoke document for a client.

Step 1 of 5

Needs Review

We start by understanding the institution's structure, existing policies and specific risk areas.

Step 2 of 5

Draft

A first draft is built around the institution's actual operations, not a generic template alone.

Step 3 of 5

Client Review

Leadership and relevant staff review the draft, and revisions are made based on their input.

Step 4 of 5

Adoption

The finished document is formally adopted, published internally, and communicated to everyone it covers.

Step 5 of 5

Periodic Review

EII recommends revisiting any code or guideline at least every two years, or sooner after a major incident.
